Of course, she would have problems getting back to... wherever she was staying at the moment. She wasn't really living with anyone in a permanent place, but drifting from store to store whenever the food ran out. It reminded her of the times before Ken-chan brought them to Soul Society and beat that pansy-ass captain, actually.
She wondered how Ken-chan and the others were doing. Was panchiko head still bald? Did Maki-maki miss being dragged around? Because she sure missed him! If she ever got back, she'd greet them all by biting and kicking them for being late and not getting her from this place!
The girl easily landed on the roof, intent on looking around to see if she could recognize where she was. What she didn't expect was to see an old friend there, too.
"Ku-ri!" she shouted delightedly, running towards him and giving him a full-force glomp. "What're you doing here?"
((ooc: Kyaaaaaah! Sorry for not responding immediately; am running after several logs. ^^;; Can we say that this is after Yachiru's log with Naoki, which is also in progress?))

At first he only saw a blur of black and a familiar pink, but it wasn't until he sat back up that he realized it was an acquaitance of his. "Pinku-chan?"
He gave a faint smile. Seconds ago he didn't want to see anyone, but Yachiru seemed to change his mind.
He patted her on the head. "Why do I always seem to meet you on roof tops? Are you secretly a monkey?" he teased.
Reply
She pouted at the monkey bit Riku mentioned, but didn't get upset too much because Riku had nicely patted her on the head. "Mou!"
((ooc: Gah, short reply. >.>;; The dangers of typing when sleepy...))

Though Yachiru seemed to radiate an abundance of joy, Riku still was distant. His eyes were somewhat glazed over, and they had lost some of their shine.

Yachiru looked at Riku curiously and, after a while, poked his cheek. He looked bothered with something.
"No. Why're you asking?"

But he still turned to Yachiru and tried to smile. "So little monkey, what have you been doing in this weird jungle?"
Reply
She shook her head. "If I'm a monkey, then what are you? And I've been playing, kinda..." Yachiru pouted. "I want to see Ken-chan now."

"Me? I'm... well, what do you think?" he said not trying to compare himself to an animal. To tell the truth he'd never quite thought of himself in that manner. But then again he heard Sora talk about turning into a fish and a lion...
He looked at Yachiru, "Who is this Ken person? I've heard you say it before. Is he a friend of yours?" Riku asked about this mysterious person with the idea that this "Ken" was another small kid with probably a brilliant color of hair.
[[ooc: oh how sadly mistaken he is XD]]

"Hmm." Yachiru looked at Riku carefully, trying to find a suitable animal for him. Silver hair, golden eyes... "A bird?" she said questioningly, tilting her head. Did he look like a bird? If he didn't, she could always change it.
The girl grinned when Riku asked. "Yeah! He's super strong and big! Ken-chan also has a funny eyepatch and bells on his hair, too!"
((ooc: xDDDD))

"A bird? I guess. But don't you need wings to fly?" Riku's head slightly dropped. How could he ever be a bird. They were free.
"Wow, this Ken guy seems ... very... interesting. If he's big, do you mean he's older than you?" Riku looked up squinting his eyes. He pictured a boy, slightly taller than Yachiru with bright orange hair that was tied into several pony-tails with bells on each of them. And this kid had an eye-patch with a little flower over the eye. "Pinku, you're friends must be very..." Riku stopped himself from saying 'bizarre' and finished, "... nice."

"Ku-ri's being silly," giggled Yachiru. "You don't need to have wings to fly" (and she mentioned this because, one time, Yumichika explained to her that birds were never permanently in the sky and that they had to land somewhere, much like shinigami when they had to step on the ground to gain additional speed in their flash steps) "and not all birds could fly. Look at chickens!" Those funny white birds always loved pecking the ground and flapping their wings frantically, and it was good fun to chase them around the streets.
Yachiru nodded to confirm Riku's statement. "Yup! He's waaaay older than me!" Had she known what Riku's mental image of Kenpachi was, she would have doubled over laughing, and possibly look for a way to dye the shinigami's hair when she saw him again.

Riku's eyes were foucused on the vast gray seen before him. But after Yachiru spoke, his eyes seemed to reject what he was seeing. He no longer looked on to a dismal future and turned to see what was in front of him. Yachiru really was... something. Her words may have seemed like an innocent children's conversation but they had the wisdom of someone much older.
Maybe it's because her eyes don't lie to her...
[[yeah that's a kh thing]]
"I guess you're right," he finally said. A little color was coming back to his face. "Hm... some chicken would be good right now, wouldn't it?"
Riku took a deep breath and closed his eyes with his face tilted towards the sky. It was starting to get dark though his face seemed brighter.
"Hey Pinku, ... thanks."

At the mention of chicken, Yachiru's stomach growled. The girl pouted and poked her tummy, wondering why it had to act up now, of all times. Maybe Naoki had infected her with his hunger or something? That didn't sound right though, and the thought of her eating life force was scary. Food really sounded good, though.
"I'm hungry."
Yachiru looked at Riku curiously, wondering what he was thanking her for. The teen did look lighter now, though, so it might have been something she said. If she helped Riku feel better, than it was a good thing, right?
"Um, okay."

To show its disdain it had been caving in for weeks but now it finally collasped.
Riku made a sour face and set his hand on his stomach. He'd been so worried before that he didn't even notice his stomach. But now...
He could just picture the tender, juicy, white-breasted chicken~
Sitting next to mounds of pillowy, buttered mashed potatoes~
And all of it swimming in pools of amber covered gravy~
He looked at Yachiru hoping for the answer he had been looking for. He'd heard there was a bar in town... Maybe she knew where it was.
"Pinku-chan," he talked slowly to try to stop his voice from pleading like it wanted to, "do you know a place where we can get food?"
Reply
Yachiru remembered Guy's place, and the juice that he had served her. Maybe he had food? If he didn't, drinking more juice or something might help, and she was rather thirsty.
"Blondie might have some."
Now the problem was getting there, since she couldn't remember how she ended up in Guy's bar in the first place.
((ooc: I'm hungry. >_<;;; ))

Riku's eyes glistened. He abruptly grabbed her shoulders so she faced him. "WHERE?!"
He let go of her after his unexpected outburst and tried to look calm though the mixed expressions looked kind of creepy. "I mean... where would I be able to find this blonde person?"
