Who: Ema Skye, Maora, Lana Skye What: Maora brings a present for Ema ^^ Where: The Skye's apartment When: after Maora makes the dress, obviously before the masquerade Rating: PG Open: Nopes.
It took a few trips back and forth, but eventually there were three bowls, three spoons, and three mugs of tea at three places on the table. The darkness made Lana frown for a moment, and she flicked on a light.
...which flickered uselessly, until she turned it off once again. Biting back a sigh, she went over to find a candle, located in a drawer in a kitchen, and managed to find some matches.
With a lit candle now in hand, she returned to the table and set it in the middle. It wasn't a lot of light, but at least they could see each other. It was hard to make their run down apartment even remotely like a home, but Lana tried.
"So, Maora.. where are you from?" Not meant to be prying, just an attempt to start conversation while they ate. And Lana really wanted to get to know Ema's friend more.
Maora moved to try and help Ema's sister bring the items to the table, but it was apparent that Lana had it taken care of. As she went to ask if there was anything she could do to contribute, the lights flickered like they would in a horror film. How lovely. Maora bit her lip. These things kept happening as a reminder to not get comfortable. Well the fates were going to have to put up a stronger fight than that to get the brunette down!
After Ema was settled, Maora joined the party at the table with a smile. "I'm from Japan, actually. My school is a prestigious one, known as the Imperial Academy. I'm treasurer of the student council."
She clapped an ita~da~ki~masuuu, and asked, "Where are you two from?"
This was when Maora noticed the spoon on the table. Blinku. No chopsticks? The brunette ate miso with a spoon, but ramen? Apparently the treasurer had another obstacle to overcome, since she definitely wasn't going to say anything...
Ema smiled as she saw the sight in the kitchen. Despite the worn china and flatware, the fact that it was instant food, and that creepy flickering light, the idea of sitting and eating as a group was... downright homey
( ... )
Lana apparently missed the hesitation on Maora's part, since she's sitting across the table from her, on Ema's opposite side. She nodded at Maora as she spoke about herself, and managed a smile. "That is wonderful." Ema's enthusiam made her smile more, as she began to work on her soup.
It tasted good, as good as she could hope, anyway.
"I also live in Los Angeles. I used to work as a prosecutor. Chief prosecutor, actually." Lana prodded at her soup, oblivious for the moment of Ema leaving to fetch something. God, how could she explain being in prison to a total stranger? She tried that before, and was regarded.. well.. like a criminal.
Lana frowned.
Ema returning with chopsticks... changed Lana's mindset temporarily. "Oh, I apologize. I did not know..." She trailed off, watching Ema return with the chopsticks. Now she felt kinda bad, worried that she might have insulted Maora.
