He walked toward the voice until he could actually see the owner of the voice. He smiled and waved a hand - his right hand - in greeting.
"Um...hi! Sorry, I was just looking for food, and I guess I got lost. Not that...I knew where I was in the first place..."

"Hello!" She looked at him, then down at the cookies before offering it to him. "Here, you can have some of this. It's not much, but at least it's food, right?"
She cocked her head curiously to the side. "You must be new here. The city's always tring to get people lost and the doors aren't much help either."

He took one of the cookies from her, not wanting to be rude by taking more, and tasted it. "Hey, these are good." He swallowed, then continued, "I'm new here, yes. But...I haven't been through any doors. Is something wrong with them?"
He finished the cookie in only a couple bites, and then remembered his manners. "OH! I'm sorry, I'm Allen. Allen Walker."

"I'm sorry, but what...what's a 'chatroom'?" he asked, visibly confused at that one. He couldn't imagine what she was talking about. He'd figured out that the "journals" were the way people were communicating with the machines, but beyond that...he really didn't know.

"You understand about the journals, right? When you type something there, it's put up on something called the Internet, where other people with access to it can read it and reply to you.
"A chatroom... is kind of like that, except a lot faster. It's this thing that pops up sometimes. Other people who are using their computers are usually there, too. When you type something, the other people in the chatroom can see it right away and reply. It's kind of like you're actually talking to them.
"...Did that make any sense to you?"

"So it's like a telephone, but with written words?"

She shifted her weight from one foot to the other, not knowing what else to say.
"Um, is there anything else you want to ask? I might not know the answer, but maybe one of my friends would."
