For once, maybe Draco actually understood what Harry meant when he whined about his scar.

His arm burned almost instantly, and he hissed, idly grabbing it with the other hand. His eyes widened when he realized just what he was clutching in pain, and he sat straight up in bed, instantly tugging up his sleeve and staring at the mark etched in his skin.

The color drained from his face, and he turned his gaze to the boy in the bed next to him. Not "the boy". The Boy.

Draco's stomach turned. He slipped from the bed, padding over to the window, peeking outside.

There was no mistaking that light in the sky.

Like an obedient follower, Draco dressed quietly and was gone.

He followed the mark down the streets until he came to the place it had been cast. It was so dark, Draco could almost not see anything at all...

He held out his own wand, lighting the tip with a whispered spell.

Tom was still eying his precious Dark Mark as it hovered above him, though he turned and pointed his wand somewhere in the darkness as he heard the shuffling of feet.

"Who's there?" he whispered coldly, though he had a slight idea of who it possibly could've been. Who else would've been drawn to the Mark so quickly, anyway?

Draco stopped upon hearing the voice. He wasn't quite sure what to say, in this situation. For a moment, his blood ran cold with fear before he realized just how easily the Dark Lord would be able to read him.

Snape had driven that point home plenty of times.

Trying to maintain a calm demeanor, Draco was quick to lower his wand lest he be thought disrespectful. He couldn't mess up here. He had to go through with it all.

"Draco Malfoy," he answered, carefully.

...It was him, wasn't it? The Dark Lord?

Who else could possibly conjure the Mark in a way that would so make Draco's arm burn?

Tom lowered his wand ever so slightly, though now he looked more satisfied.

"What do you think, Draco? Makes the sky look more enjoyable now, doesn't it? It won't be long before all the people here know what they're in for," he whispered coldly, though his eyes were alive with a demented kind of joy.

"And now to business," Tom suddenly said sharply, "I have a job for you. I want you to gather information about this place. Send word to me once you've found enough things. I want to know who lives here and what they do. Go. Now."

With those words being said, Tom slipped off into the darkness, laughing darkly as he faded away.
