Books vs. movies

Stayed up late tonight to finish Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep by Philip K. Dick - good book, and I'm glad I've had the time again to read for pleasure ( Read more... )

books, reading, confusion, movies, frustration

That is one of the few books I have read, and I saw the movie afterward as well. I try to keep in mind that all forms of a story are a creative process and enjoy them. Stories have been told differently/changed all throughout history. I do remember enjoying the movie. Just try to enjoy it and not get annoyed... give it a chance.

Okay, I am watching and trying to give it a fair chance... but WHY would Rachel cry?! She's an android, and they don't have emotions. She cries when she realizes she's not human. That doesn't make sense. :(

I'm invariably disappointed in the movie if I read the book first. And it infuriates me when the movie totally misses the point of the book. I understand that the movie can't possibly have everything that is included in the book, and I try to understand when things in the book have to be changed to work for the movie, but it is extremely annoying to have changes made that don't need to be made.

Having said that, I enjoyed Blade Runner.
