Can't you use your phone in China? I don't know about T-mobile but our carrier has an international add on. For a certain amount more per month it will work overseas. It's been convenient for us when we travel.

Hmm, I'm not sure. I know that international roaming for me would be $3 a minute, which wouldn't work.
