when we woke up today, it smelled like poop moldy carpet in the living room. we had the windows open all day.. it got pretty cold... and we febreezed the carpet at least 3 times. the smell isn't as noticeable as before, but you DEFINITELY notice it when you first enter the room.

renting the thing from the store is pretty much the same thing as having professionals come in and do it -- we've had tons of issues with our basement flooding and yucky, moldy carpet. Also, if your landlords have a shopvac, that will work too.. (although I'm not sure you necessarily want to let them know..?).

In any case, the store rentals work very well -- just make sure you have some fans to blow on the carpet to make it dry properly.
