When Barb first lost her husband in 2013, she had two dogs - Maggie and Snickers. Maggie was a golden retriever mix and Snickers, a water-hating chocolate lab. At first she was going to get rid of them, but never quite got around to it

Sending my sympathy to Barb. I is really hard to lose a furbaby, even one you didn't want in the beginning. She must be sad, being alone. Please tell her I am thinking of her. RIP Snickers. We will meet you at the Rainbow Bridge.

I am so sorry to read this...I suspected as much and I know what kind of heartache Barb is feeling. They get into every fibre of your being and heart especially. 17 years is an amazing age for a larger dog and I know he felt the love surrounding him as he slipped away.
I'm so sorry...we never have enough time with them.

The dog I grew up with, who was 16 when she passed, slipped away in my arms, and I hope Pippin can do the same.

I'm sure she can. She felt so guilty, but everyone agreed that it was time, even Snickers. *hugs*

I feel so much for Barb.

Sometimes I try to imagine myself without any kitties, and it's hard. I've never had more than a few weeks without a cat - and it just seems so sad and lonely.

Felix died on May 4th and we are down to one kitty, sweet Misty, who now follows me all over the house - maybe a little like Snickers. I thought only dogs did that! I think about how alone I'll feel when Misty leaves us. Yes - I just gave Misty some fur hugs in honor of Snickers.
