A salute and a farewell to an old friend

Frank Thornton - the actor who played Captain Peacock on "Are You Being Served" passed away on Saturday.  He was one of my favorite characters on AYBS? and the news of his passing makes me very sad.  I think he was the last of the regulars on the show... truly the passing of an era.

good-bye

Yeah, he was just so funny and yet he played serious so damn well. Sigh...

Yeah, although after John Inman died, that was pretty much it for me.

All those wonderful people will live through their body of work and will stay forever young. That's a comforting thought to me when anyone who's famous that I like passes away.

They're never really gone...

Oh dear that was indeed one of my all time favorite shows to cross the pond. I will miss him especially. His acting was brilliant.

He was a lot of fun and from what I understand, a really nice guy.

Oh no! I hadn't heard that. I thought the actor who played Trevor was still alive. And, did John Ingram (Mr. Humphries) die, too???

Damn, I'm getting older.

Trevor? I'm not sure who that is - there was Mr. Spooner and Mr. Lucas - they are probably still around, but I never really thought of them as core players.

John Inman passed away in 2007

I thought that Mr. Lucas' first name was Trevor; I have to look that up.

Ah ha, Trevor Bannister played Mr. Lucas. That's where I got it from. Nevermind!
