That's a very interesting viewpoint, and I agree on several parts. How far do you think this ought to extend, I wonder? Purely discussion and learning, or for just about everything, like life experiences?

Odd you should say that.
I think one thing that drives me insane about talking about things such as this with you is you throw around agree and disagree very arbitrarily. Logically, from what you wrote to Jenny, you should disagree with this entire post; this is mere repetition of that idea, expanded to a universal and this is not a case where you can pick and chose; that's partly what this is about.
Also, sometime I feel as if you don't bother to really understand what I'm getting at before doling out your opinion on the matter. I found you saying you disagreed with my extremely obnoxious not because you disagreed (Jenny did too, and I was fine with that) but because you then went on to cite an opinion that wasn't necessarily contrary to my own, or even having anything to do with what I actually said. You assume things when you shouldn't. I am hesitant towards actually entering into this with you, because I'm fairly certain you will do much the same here

"I think novels that leave out technology misrepresent life as badly as the Victorians misrepresented life by leaving out sex."
Not sure exactly how that correlates to the post, but it is a tangent line to be sure... I'm sure it shares the same slope with something in there... and yes, I did just make a math metaphor...
and who am i kidding? i just like to shamelessly quote vonnegut
