I just read through this discussion on Facebook and I am astounded by all of the U.S. citizens on there bitching about how poor they are, and how they live in small houses and wear second hand clothes and how lazy illegal immigrants are just coasting by on wealth provided by the government while they suffer.

I haven't gotten to watch this all the way yet, but it's a debate: Sam Harris vs. Chris Hedges on Religion, Politics and the End of the World. Searched this out because I'm reading a book by Hedges right now (for a class), and I'm finding it to be some of the most poorly-written tripe I've ever come across. I don't understand this "have pride in _______." Why should I have pride in the fact that I'm American, or that I'm female, or that I'm caucasian? These are things I couldn't help.
