I love your yard, but then I love plants. I bet y'all have a ton of critters in that yard that come out only at night. (Or if not in your yard, a neighbor's or two. They just pass through your yard on their ways to find noms.)
Oh yes, and not only at night. Squirrels, rabbits, even a deer or two. Raccoons come out at night. Boy says he and the Mad Engineer used to see foxes, but that hasn't been for a while.
That is a lovely yard! The only reason to rake *those* leaves would be to pile them up for jumping in!^^ Also, that driveway sings for little cars and sailboats with wheels (no, not sure why they'd have them, except for sailing the Asphalt Straits!) and possibly old-fashioned rollerskates on people (with maybe a pillow or two tied on, Just in Case!)...any roller toys, really. And chalk! hiiii, I am apparently seven^^
My Step-Dad went into lake country (aka cottage country) in rural Manitoba, found the biggest, highest rock outcrop property he could find, and built his place by hand there. While everyone gets their water directly from the lakes and rivers they're surrounded by, SDad couldn't because you literally could not pump water that far uphill to his little Kingdom. Up until they finally drilled a well last year, he had no running water and just collected rain water. The only way to get up his driveway in the winter or the spring (when it turns into a mud slide) is by driving a 4x4 or gunning it up the drive (and most get stuck half way).
So I totally hear you on the bravery you need to tackle a driveway like that. I always park at the bottom of the hill and make SDad drive my car up. :D
