I've been calling myself a "tail-ender" (as in the tail-end of the baby boom). I'm month or so older than you are - I was 17 days old when Kennedy was assassinated - we're in the same boat. And it *feels* different than Gen X, even the beginning of Gen X that is my brother and husband, who were born Oct 12, 1965.

And, yes. No one really knows we exist, do they? We're not big enough demographically to be interesting.

Wow. I was born in '62. Looking for work in a bad economy. Trying to keep up with the mortgage. Caring for a parent with Alzheimer's.

You perfectly, succinctly and eloquently expressed my past and all my fears and frustrations. Thank you.

Happy Birthday and may we all live to see better times.

I am there with all of this... I was explaining to my kids how it was the last time it was a turndown economic lifetime, and my 10 year old said, " Oh no, that means it'll hapen to me again!" and I said yes, it will. We then planned strategies for it as the man with the laptop sitting next to us in McDonalds filled in a PDF form. I'll be there in 20 years time saying the same thing, and I remember my mum talking to me in the late 70s the same way.

I'd always heard that the generation between the Boomers and the 13ers were called the Silent Generation -- however, I can definitely see Jones as a very apt name. Dominus' sister is a Jones, and his brother as well. He's a 13er.

Anyway. Happy Birthday again, and here's hoping the dayjob you get next leaves you plenty of juice to get your own project underway, so you can get back to doing what you love with your life!
