He Was an Incorrigible Flirt

On the last day of 2006, I went to Dan's (incidentist) house, where I met Jessica, Jessica, and Robin, the girlfriends of Dan, his brother Matt, and his brother Matt's friend Lee. In an unusual role reversal, the men were in the kitchen cooking while the women were in the living room watching football. I helped peel almonds for Dan's gløgg, a Danish spiced ( Read more... )

I was trying to walk a fine line since I honestly did not want to ditch them, especially since, hell, when do random Indian girls ever talk to me, but I also had no desire to hook up with Viagra. So it was wacky times.

"What's your bedroom look like?"

Okay, that isn't what I meant when I said you should ask girls questions about themselves.

But for a second there, I was the motherfucking train whisperer.

I love you for this. But don't worry, not the way Psoriasis wanted you to love Viagra.

That was fabulously amusing.

I just wish I'd thought of it at the time. Dammit, why can't I be Veronica Mars?

Well, she has a team of writers. You've got to come up with your own material.

I lurve Dana Gould ever since I heard him on the podcast I listen to (Guys with Feelings) and he was so adorable and strange.

Obviously, the next step in "Come here often?" is that the other person either says, "Yeah, I stop by from time to time" and you reply, "Awesome, I'll see you next week" and then walk away, leaving a trail of mystery. OR the person says, "Nope, never been here before, never coming here again" and you reply, "Oh, well, then you'd better jot your number here on this cocktail napkin right away." It's win/win! Or win/lose/draw.

First: Whoa. Matt and crew had a little adventure, too: a line cook at the next place they stopped was someone we knew from camp. I missed all the intrigue.

Second: I didn't leave you to flirt with other Jessica -- that's my bro's gf! Ew! I must've gone to flirt with my brother's friend's gf.

Sorry about the whole sea-of-couples thing. It just kinda worked out that way. Glad you made it, though. Matt said it was the best stand-up he'd ever seen, but I'm with you -- Dana Gould was only middling.

Sounds like you got game, my friend, and you're just waiting for the right players.

Whoa, craziness!

MAYBE. But flirting with other Jessica is easier because you don't even have to worry about the name thing.

I'm glad it wasn't just me.

That bedroom line will work eventually!
