L'schnooky yesh meeshmeesh
I just discovered that my aunt's house has wireless. The trip so far has consisted of day trips followed by long stretches of hanging out on the couch, watching the news with family and Schnooky the cat. It's terrific. On the plane. The plan is: Israel until the 26th, then Toronto until the 4th or so, then taking a train to Boston until the 12th. Whee!

Fairytales for Adults
I saw Slumdog Millionaire last night, and while I enjoyed it a lot more than Pan's Labyrinth, I think there's a built-in limit to how much I can enjoy any movie that's labelled "a fairytale for adults". And I think I figured the common elements that disengage me from these films despite my intention to like them.

Feeling pretty good about casting my vote analog-style at Malcolm X Elementary School, on a sunny day following two stormy ones, safe in the knowledge that the benevolent spirit of Debra Bowen is guarding the sanctity of all the little broken arrows that I made whole. Rally
I'm at an obama rally in Reno. At a stadium on the UNR campus. There should be vendors walking through the bleachers selling lattes, sushi and chardonnay--you know, the sustenance of Fake America--but there aren't. The man himself comes out in an hour and a half. Good way to kick off a canvassing weekend.
