"I just...am I supposed to cheer at the sight of FOUR PEOPLE SHOOTING THE FUCK OUT OF a small little woman? I...she wasn't even posing any immediate threat, for fuck's sake. Who are these people?" I was reading TWoP and this seems to be a not-uncommon complaint.
Also, there are a lot of Torchwood haters on Outpost Gallifrey. Admittedly, this doesn't mean much, but on a NYC-based DW forum that I go to, even people who, 2 weeks ago, told everyone to give it a chance are now like, "just cancel this shit now." I still haven't gotten around to seeing episodes 1, 3 or 4, but even though all the talk of a "sexy Cyberwoman" has kind of piqued my interest, I feel like I have better things to do with my time than download & watch them. Maybe I'll start watching Heroes.
Haven't seen Prison Break or Torchwood yet, so I'm skipping the comments - although I agree that Sarah Wayne Callis is amazingly gorgeous, as is Wentworth Miller - but I figure the latter wasn't all that awesome? Sigh. I so wanted this show to be good. Pretty much agree on everything you wrote about Heroes - this show makes me squee! so much. About Nathan getting the painting, it was very ambiguous, but I think he actually told the truth, he didn't get it. Linderman put it into a gallery or something, and I think Nathan thanked him because he talked to him, not because he gave the painting back. I could be wrong of course, I just didn't see why he should lie about it, dude usually has a reason when he does.
And I so dig that Micah is sort of a tiny Mitchell Hundred! That's so awesome! And I can't stop using exclamation points!(Sorry for plastering your lj with squeeage, I'll stop now!)
Speaking of mystery... I definitely never thought Nathan was just an asshole. But when he is one, he is glorious. But Pasdar is a genius. It became apparent to me in episode five that he was more than that, because he really cared too much about Niki for that to have been habitual. Poor guy. He's so sad, really. I must know about his past!
So much word! *draws little hearts around paragraph*
I can't really decide if I want him to be a glorious jackass, or a redemptive glorious jackass, though I'd happily settle for something between the two. As long as they don't kill him off in some stupid redemptive sacrifice, or make him completely eeeVIL.

Also, I'm glad there are other people not as enamored with the show as everyone else. I was beginning to wonder what I wasn't seeing.
I was really excited about this show, too. This just wasn't what I was expecting. I thought it would be more fun.
