Sci-Fi Friday!

Sometimes I look through old journal entries and see these great lines and wonder if it's okay to steal them for actual stories or books later. They deserve to be seen by a larger audience! For instance, my last post contained the following line, re: my car:
It gets me from point A to point B, but not point C, which is where the chicks are.

That sketch is pure win. It makes me really happy :)

Yes, imaginary Kyle is totally awesome. Sarah/Kyle is dangerous territory to mess with, but Zack & Ash did an amazing job writing this one. I loved it. It was sad and sweet and OMG CUTTING INTO LEG - FUCKING OUCH! It all just worked so well and rather than being Sarah you need to remember the mission - blah blah blah - cut scene from T2, we got to climb into Sarah's head and know how much Kyle is still with her.

I think this may have been the first episode where I wasn't a little bored with the John Henry stuff. Playing with Bionicles, knowing all about each character, BALL JOINTS! I want to ask God the same question. :D

Catherine Weaver holy crap. Do not piss off the liquid metal lady! I loved the way they toyed with us in the bathroom. Oh please, she's going to be a urinal again? Oh wait, she's a sink this time. No the mirror. And then SLICE in the hallway. So fun. That explosion was a little cheesy though ( ... )

Brett and I both really enjoyed Dollhouse and were intrigued. I wasn't uncomfortable, I more thought it was interesting because I think it's really in the morally "gray" zone. These are, apparently, volunteers, after all. Sort of.

I'd had to drop T:SCC when it was in they hyper-competitive Monday at 8pm slot, so this is the first time I've seen it since the 2nd season premiere. And dude! It kind of got awesome. Plus, Garret Dillahunt who I adore in just about everything he does. Happy to have the show back at a time I can watch it.

Dollhouse - I'm trying to remind myself that the premiere of Firefly wasn't exactly spectacular either. That's what happens when network suits get in the way. I'm not blown away, but I'm definitely hopeful for more in future episodes.

Yeah, I hear you. I'll give it some time; it took me a while to fall in love with Firefly.

I'm glad you can watch SCC again! It's so good. Of course, how frickin' lost were you??

I pretty much agree with EVERYTHING you said about Dollhouse. Everyone I know (including me...I know me.) was completely underwhelmed and even a little disappointed. I had to keep telling them "Just wait. It's just a pilot. Joss Whedon is awesome, it will get better. It will get better! Won't it get better?"

The lack of humor is really what gets me. It seems so stoic, serious, and mostly action. Like pretty much every other action show on TV right now. I've just gotta stick with it. After all, my mother's take on it was that Joss has a lot of things to set up for this season. There are a lot of characters and a lot of little plots that have to take place in order for the story to make sense, I think. So maybe when he's done setting the scene it will get better. I hope.

I do wish I had more ball-and-socket joints.

So, just wait for Skynet to take over! Then your shoulder will be mega-awesome!

I mean, I wasn't a fan of the Angel mindwipe, and this show is like the mindwipe multiple times an episode.

Good insight (and since I hate the mindwipe with the white-hot intensity of a thousand stars, that helps me articulate why I didn't like the Dollhouse pilot).

Overall, I think the show does seem to want to tackle issues of identity and what makes us who we are, which are themes very dear to me, but it's going about it in a very uncomfortable-to-watch way, which is why it's going to get cancelled.

I thought it was going to get cancelled because it's on Fox?
