So, I've been hideously bored with fandom recently.  Actually I've been bored with just about everything.  I have no enthusiasm for any particular aspect of my life these days.  It kind of sucks.  I decided to go to a Rockabilly night thing later in the month that's being held to fundraise for flood repairs - I love an excuse to get dressed up;

I can totally understand where you're coming from about the lack of enthusiasm for things. Life here is mostly work, work and more work. As much as I try, I just don't think I'm suited to be friends with my Irish colleagues. I haven't been looking forward to going home alone because I have to cook for myself and the landlady sure isn't making things easy for me. Sigh.

Sucks that your mum and bff crashed on your plans :/ I hope you enjoy getting dressed up nonetheless :)
