When Mal was a boy, they all used to go skinnydippin’ in the puddle everyone called a pond, back of his mama’s place. Modesty be damned, ranching was hard work and in the hot season he’d do anything to cool down as quick as gorram possible.
Funny how you never know you’re makin’ a memory while you’re doing it.
He was happy then, blissfully happy-bare as the day he was born, floatin’ about in admittedly murky waters with the other young'uns, splashing and laughing.
Undignified.
He wonders if she’s ever been swimming outside-pretty, little city girl like her.
