That may be the longest setup for a joke I have ever read. :-)
I really enjoyed how competent everyone was throughout this story, and how the NCIS team (while understandably thrown for a loop by the whole aliens and Forgotten Realms stuff) adapted to the situation and were able to think of ways around Bodhi's advantages. It's also nice to see Cierre making a life for herself on Earth, and the ways that Faerûn is nudging the characters and events of SG-1 away from canon.
Thank you! There's another joke to come to which the set-up was two and a half years ago in a different story.
I like competent characters, and I like nudging things away from canon; in fact one of my pet hates is stories in which things stay canon-compliant despite changes that should have an impact. The worst example of all is a story at Twisting the Hellmouth called 'Teal'c's Wish' in which Xander and Faith join the SGC and don't change anything in even the slightest detail.
Also, I'm curious what your thoughts are (if any) about the mods at TTH. I refuse to patronize the site after the shoddy treatment of the author ChefJackButler. It seems to be a really Draconian site, with "my way or the highway" type rules, and I have no need of that.
I decided to write another chapter of 'The Dark Companion' first before I finish this story off - I happened to notice that it had been exactly a year since I last touched 'The Dark Companion' and that spurred me into revisiting it. I'll do the conclusion of this story after that
