Happy birthday to melancthe

Belated happy birthday to higlearn

I have been vaguely thinking about doing a poll asking what people thought was the all-time best Buffyverse fanfic. Perhaps ‘The Last Tin Soldier’ by liz_marcs? shadowscast’s ‘Fragments’ series, or her ‘Sock Puppet’? rahirah’s ‘Necessary Evils’? The short story ‘I, Bot’ that used to be hosted on Valerie X’s site (but which, ( Read more... )

Is it I, Bot by Alex with the diary entries? I have a Word copy of that.

That's the one! But someone else has sent me a link to it online anyway. This time I'll save a copy myself.

Either way, wolves in Scotland in autumn of 2004 wouldn’t just be ignored as a normal part of the scenery. They’d be as much a cause for astonishment as would a herd of mastodons turning up in Beverley Hills.

The comic world is not our world. It’s Earth-C, otherwise known as ‘The World With Scottish Wolves’.

I wonder if they have shrimp?
"snort" I can just hear Joss right now saying : "Details, details!". Except, of course, you're right and he isn't.

I like to get the details right, and so do the writers that I rate highly. Would 'Came the Thunder' work if I'd made Nonoma'e'e a movie stereotype Indian? I don't think so.

I keep up with BtVS: The Comics thanks to generous and good-natured online fans. I refuse to buy them, because they sound WAY WAY WAY non-dimensional, even for Buffy.

The AtS comics, OTOH, I purchase and read. They seem MUCH more credible....perhaps because Joss doesn't write them, so much as "show run" them.

I get the Season 8 comics via a certain generous and good-natured online fan too. No way would I part with money for them.

Wolves in Scotland, huh? It's because Joss is actually writing a Primeval crossover, but hasn't got round to mentioning it yet. Nick Cutter and crew will be lurking somewhere in the vicinity, looking for the temporal anomoly that spawned the wolf pack in the first place.

It also means, of course, that we will get the 'giant Dawn v T.Rex' story, any day now ...

I thought of the Primeval crossover analogy too. I even thought of writing the 'Nick shows up looking for the anomaly' story but I haven't seen enough Primeval episodes to do it justice. And really my complaint isn't that there are wolves, it's that they're not recognised as being as out of place there as a Columbian mammoth on the M-25. Don't Renée and Xander know anything about the country in which they're living?

Primeval would avoid the 'T Rex' cliché and use something less stereotypical, such as Carcharodontosaurus, but Joss isn't that good. T Rex is probably the only dinosaur he's heard of. And he probably thinks that it lived in Venezuela in the 1920s.
