Series: Original
Character/Pairing: Emily (Opal), unnamed old lady
Rating: G

“You must be careful on what you do here,” an old lady advised in a concern tone.

“Sure, whatever,” the young woman rolled her eyes. She didn’t ask the woman for advice, it wasn’t like she was a child.

“Opal, you don’t understand the dangers here yet,” old lady said in a motherly tone. “I’ve seen it happen a million times to people like you. When the true identity is revealed their whole world and them crumble beneath them.  Person will be displayed as a horrendous criminal in front of the entire world.”

“You don’t make any sense,” grunted the girl. “Are you talking about people being falsely convicted of crimes? That would be outrageous; no leader in the right mind would do such a thing.”

“But this place is different,” the old woman pointed out. “It’s not a place you know.  Leaders here have one view on outsiders and it’s not pretty picture to them. Trust me, they will find something to punish you for. They always find it. Sometimes they even plant evidence of misconduct for the innocent.”

She frowned as she tried to determine what the old bag was saying. It sounded like gibberish. Innocents being framed? And she was going to get in trouble. That was all she could make of it. The woman was completely daft.

The girl decided that the best course of action was to ignore the old lady. After a few moments of silence the old lady smiled as she headed began to walk away. In parting she said, “Opal, I see you understand. Bye.”

“Why are you so persistent on calling me Opal?” the girl asked irritated. “That’s not my name. My name is Emily. E-M-I-L-Y. Or is that too ‘outsider’?”

“Partially,” replied the woman as she left.

She couldn’t believe that old lady. She was sure an old crazy bat like that on the loose would cause more mischief that she would. No matter what world she was in.
