Katara wrapped her arms around Toph. The earth bender looked like she needed comforting. It was what she would want if it were her. It always felt good to be held. Warm. Safe. Comforting.
Toph jerked away from Katara immediately. Her body stiffed, she frowned. She didn’t like it when Katara was “motherly” toward her. She didn’t want Katara to mother her. A mother wasn’t the role she wanted Katara to play in her life. However, Katara never understood that. She’d always be the den mother and wonder why Toph isolated herself.
When Toph that way it was impossible for Katara to penetrate though the stone wall that Toph surrounded herself.
