I've come to the conclusion that if I ever end up doing anything memorable, it won't be until I'm very old. There are never young Joans. The other night I had to go to this ceremony for my mother's masonic organization and there were at least 5 Joans there. All old and wrinkled. I'm fairly certain I have never once in my life met a Joan my age or ( Read more... )

Now, now. Joan of Arc was very young when she was martyred. Only 19. That's pretty memorable. Raise an army and get yourself burned at the stake. People will remember you for a little while.

I find it sort of awesome that your mother belongs to a Masonic organization. I'm not sure why, though, given that the Masons are creepy and weird.

I'm not sure if I'm going to need a ride or not. It's possible--not probable, mind, but possible--that Tim will be coming, and if that's the case, it's also possible that we'll come up together. But then, maybe not. He and I still need to talk about it.

I should probably do work at work instead of LJing, huh? Yeah, maybe.

You have a point about Joan of Arc. But that was a million years ago (...more or less anyway). I don't doubt that there was a time when young Joans abounded. This is not that time, however. Maybe if I go and raise my own army and die a martyr now I will bring the name back into vogue ( ... )

Hell, there's a ton of money in insurgencies these days. You could get yourself a tidy fortune before your untimely death.

I think I'm now rather glad I will never see a Masonic ceremony. Man. I was hoping it was at least sort of fun. Apparently not.

I may not know about the ride until close to the end of June, because Tim doesn't know how he's going to feel about missing an opportunity to see his family, but I'll make sure to get back to you with a couple of days to spare, at least.

I agree with you about working at work. I have done very little of it this week. Sadly, next week I'll have to start working again. *sigh*

Ditto! Is that pretty much the schedule you and Dave are planning on?

I think so yes. We'll definitely be there that weekend, I'm just not sure how long we're staying. So yay!
