I can't remember if I've commented on this universe before, but gah, it makes me wibble every time. I have tears in my eyes - for "big Sam," who's lost his brother for good, who's trying so hard to do right by these kids and doesn't know how, and for Dean and Sam, for whom rescue is not a simple or a straightforward thing. They break my heart, all of them.

I'm glad that Sam took them away from their father and gave them better lives.

Though I doubt the supernatural will leave them alone, so I do hope Sam teaches them to defend themselves and spn protection tools...though hopefully he's just waiting until they're older.

Since this is mindless self indulgent fluff for me I've made sure the supernatural kind of leaves the Sams and Dean alone, unrealistically of course...hmm. Maybe Cas is trying to set right what once went wrong, too, and keeping them from harm's way? (Lol I just love Cas. I'll work him into everything.)

He doesn’t say that Dean is better off for his intervention. He doesn’t say that he hopefully has saved Dean from growing up far too soon, from a lifetime of hunting monsters, from never feeling good enough, from Hell, from death, from a father who hits him and will hold him to impossible standards for the rest of his life, from a brother who will grow up with a view so warped and damaged he will lash out at all the wrong moments, from a rootless existence, from so much loss and pain, from self-loathing and alcohol and torture and sacrifice and so very much misery.

He can’t say that, so he says “It’s okay, Dean, it’s okay,” and when Dean relaxes at last all Sam can think is, I learned how to do that from you.

I think those are some of the most excruciating, and most beautiful, words ever written in SPN fanfic! I actually started bawling right there. This is an amazing concept and it is painfully good! Is there more in this verse?
