Ooooooookay that's kind of hilarious. Heh. I like the mention of the "smaller brains and unbalanced fluids." (Did you maybe mean humours, though?) Great. And, as always, love your disclaimer.

Of course. *sigh* I know I should look up every other word, but when the story flows I sometimes delay that, and apparently did not get back to it in this case. That, and I couldn't think of which word to look for anyway at the time.

There has been speculation as to the meaning of the arching eyebrows in AWE on the part of our beloved Cutler. Your tidbit does help bring that into sharper contrast.

"spoiled shrew"---hmm, not the most flattering, but I could even see a few others using that reference.

Like the three suitors, as well. I'll make it easy...I like the whole thing! :) Kerry

First of all - I LOVE your disclaimer - it totally made my day. And second of all - hooray for Beckabeth :)

This was fab, I loved...

He was still of the opinion that old Swann would have embraced him as son-in-law with outmost joy, and would have supported his career henceforth (not to mention handed over estates and plantations as a dowry), just out of gratitude for Cutler making his daughter an honest woman (as opposed to a wanted criminal) and ending this unseemly blacksmith affair.

unseemly blacksmith affair - awesome :)

This was short, but intensely written. so mentally unsound and exciteable. I've always felt Cutler was a bit of a misogynist...

I believe such a view of women was generally agreed upon at the time, at least by educated men.
