Hi, my name's Elizabeth and I found your journal though a comment you made on linguaphiles about translating a book from Catalan into English. Lately I've been thinking about becoming a translator when I "grow up" (I'm a senior in high school right now). Would you mind commenting on what it's like/giving some advice about the job?

Also, loved the letter.

I don't mind, but you'd probably be better off asking on interlingual. Not only are there more translators/interpreters there than me (and I'm primarily an interpreter, so I'm probably not the best person to ask about earning a living as a translator, because it's harder than earning one as an interpreter, which is why I'm an interpreter ...), the question gets asked a lot so there are probably already a bunch of posts there you could read to help you frame some more specific questions and maybe answer some of the ones you have now.
