I don't understand people. Mostly in this moment it's the horrible RPer community of people I don't understand.

First of all, why not... you know... improve? I get that not everyone is going to be an awesome writer. I get that no one starts out that way. I get that you think it's not that important, I get that you're not putting much effort into it ( Read more... )

Wow. This makes me very grateful for the place I RP! The writing standards are fairly high, and the application makes people prove they can meet them. Obviously some people are better writers than others, but I haven't seen anyone that makes me cringe or go "OMG, go away!" The culture/community is really good, too. The mods are respected, even when people disagree with their decisions, and everyone's pretty laid-back. I'm having a blast so far!

All of which is to say: wow, I'm glad I found Tabula Rasa, and not something like the creeptastic board you described! Ew.

Yeah, you're definitely lucky! I'd totally try to get in there, but it looks like everyone I know I can write is taken, and I'm too brainmelty lately to try someone new and give it the attention that it would take to make it work, haha <3

It seems like journal RPs are more likely to be better quality than forum-based ones, apparently. Not that all of them are, but as a general rule, that seems to be how it goes. In the early days, all I did was forums, and I've only found one or two that were really super amazing... and now that I was converted to using LJ / IJ, I don't think I ever want to go back.
