This story was written in one night, in a 'spur-of-the-moment' sort of way, just because my friend dorcas_gustine (who's an excellent fanfic writer, a lot more talented than me) wanted to celebrate the end of her exams ans asked for some story featuring Chris. This popped into mind, and here it is! :)

Lovely story! Thanks for writing something about Chris's 'breakdown' in the train car--that's the one thing that always strikes a wrong note with me in the last episode. I don't think Chris would have been quite so silly and said "I don't wanna be a copper" as he did in the episode.

But thanks for a great story following up on that. And I like that we know Sam will be along shortly to also tell Chris he'll be a good copper.

Finally--I'm so impressed with your writing in English! Well done!

Somehow, that line uttered by Chris in the last episode has struck a chord with me. He's such a lovely character, although often underused, and I just wanted to give him a bit of justice by exploring his feelings after 2.08 rather than Sam's or Gene's (though I love them to bits, too).

You've delved into something that troubled me quite a bit about the last episode, namely Chris shouting 'I don't want to be a copper anymore!' as he ran away. Getting us into his mind to let us see what he was going through was wonderful, and Ray was, well, almost sweet :)

I think that line troubled quite a few people, me included. It stuck to my mind for a long time, until I found a way to give a sort of explanation for it, in order not to leave that path unexplored.
