Weekend round-up

Nothing much to report. On Saturday, I finally reached the point of procrastination where I actually had to *do* something, and reframed a chalk portrait that my cousin and I had had done of ourselves at Knotts Berry Farm in 1970 as a Christmas present for our grandpap. After he died, my mom took it and hung it up in her living room, and after she ( Read more... )

i hate it when stories won't come even when you KNOW how they should go (points to my last post)

I think it's my brain telling me that my fic writing days are coming to an end. I have ideas, but can't get the enthusiasm to put them to paper (or word document, as it were). Oh, well, I'll just go back to telling myself stories in my head, like I used to do before I learned about fanfic. :-(

I frequently have Rodney shouting in the back of my head as well. But sounds like much fun. :)

Heh. Which MST3K movies? I watched "Girl on Lovers Lane" last night myself, a Joel outing. Movie=YAWN, Bots=TEH FUNNEH, from the cold open with them giving themselves belly buttons to Crow's John Agar impersonation.

I miss those guys. RiffTrax etc. are nice, but...BOTS! :D

The first was Teenage Strangler, 1964. The plot from IMDb: A troubled teen with an undeserved criminal past is the suspect when young women start turning up around town dead and marked up with lipstick. You wanna know what his "undeserved criminal past" was? He took the fall for his little brother for stealing a bicycle! Oy, such a hardened criminal.

Query by Bots about title: Is is a teenager strangling, or a strangler strangling teenagers? *g*

Second was Giant Spider Invasion staring Barbara Hale (Della Street!) and Alan Hale, Jr. (The Skipper!). Needless to say, there was an unending host of Gilligan's Island jokes. Also, it was supposed to be taking place in Wisconsin, so every time there was a crowd scene, the bots and Mike started yelling, "Packers! Yay, Packers!" Seriously cracked my shit up. LOL

Oh, I love Giant Spider Invasion! For the movie itself (dear lord, the redneck with the truss!) and because I love the Donald Sutherland version of Body Snatchers they spoof in the wrap segments. Just so much fun all the way 'round.

Also: you know this was just the kind of movie they had in mind when they made Slither. Had. To. Have. There's a whiff of it in the first Men in Black movie too, but Slither? Dead on.

Oh, god, that truss! Seriously, that was a movie just made to be MST3K'd. *g*

Dammit, I've never seen Slither. I was waiting for it to come out on DVD and then promptly forgot about it. I'll have to make a stop at the DVD rental place and get it.
