The Amazing Race Season 1 just recently came out on DVD and I got it from Netflix and have been watching it over the past week. I've really been enjoying it. I've gotten to the final four and I'll probably finish up tonight. I only started watching TAR with Season 6 so I have no idea who won this first season, and if you know PLEASE DON'T SPOIL ( Read more... )

I agree that this season's TAR is not as strong as previous years but it could still win the Emmy since they actually run it twice a year and the one in the Spring was very good. I really hope they drop the family version and go back to the around the world one. The best parts are always people dealing with other countries, cultures, languages, money etc.

That's it exactly! I realize that the Amish may be exotic to a lot of people in the US, but I don't really think that qualifies under the coping with various and diverse cultures framework. :)

You're right that the next TAR may be better (well, it'd almost have to be, wouldn't it?), but Survivor is having a strong season now and if they have another good season in the Spring, then TAR may not make it. But again, award shows are incomprehensible to me.

The good news is, we kicked Bengal ass, so all is well with the world again.

Hooray! The more the Bengals get humiliated, the less I (hopefully) have to see "Who Dey!" on restaurant marquees, painted on car windows, etc.

Heh. While I consider the Browns my second favorite team, I've never had any love for the Bengals. :)

Yeah, I have the feeling that the ratings are about to take another dive after the last two weeks. It's been just plain bad. And, hell, the only likable people left are the two little kids.

And even the little girl bugs me a bit because a) she's precocious and b) the only precocious kids I like are related to me. *g*

But all-in-all the Gaghans are the least offensive family left. As for the others - I can only hope that at least one member of each family gets eaten by an anaconda while in Panama or wherever the hell they're going.
