The Amazing Race Season 1 just recently came out on DVD and I got it from Netflix and have been watching it over the past week. I've really been enjoying it. I've gotten to the final four and I'll probably finish up tonight. I only started watching TAR with Season 6 so I have no idea who won this first season, and if you know PLEASE DON'T SPOIL ME. I only hope and pray that it wasn't one certain team that I loathe like a loathing thing.
Watching these DVDs really, really emphasizes just how sucky this current season is. The tasks have been so watered down to make them compatible with children that the show is more like an extended edition of Charles Kuralt's On the Road segment than an edition of The Amazing Race. From what I can tell, the ratings have been way off, and I think they'll continue to drop as people give up on it this season. I hope Bruckheimer/Van Munster et al learned their lesson. If it earns an emmy next year as "best realty show" I'll know the fix is in.
In other news, yesterday I attended my niece's wedding. On a Sunday. During football season. The hell? And it was during an important game after last week's humiliating and totally lame loss to the Jaguars. The good news is, we kicked Bengal ass, so all is well with the world again. At least until
next Monday. *g*
Today is cold and rainy and just generally crappy, but I'm glad I'm not in the hurricane. Stay safe y'all.
