A new world

That was my first real fight as a member of the EDF.

I fought real people, probably directly killed at least one and definitely assisted in the death of another, and came close to death a dozen times in a matter of minutes. We all did. Yet, somehow, we all made it home in one piece. Ryusei, Kira, Rei, Ensign YAmada, Ms. Loveless, Major Ingram, ( Read more... )

Oh! That was an awful typo on my part, I really do know your name!

And now I nearly die of embarrassment, too. Ha.

I'm sorry, I'm just a little preoccupied now...

Don't worry about it. You've got a lot on your mind, right?

You're one of the kids we've pulled into this mess... man, how does that keep happening?

Yeah, I guess.

I'm not sure why people my age and younger keep getting involved. It is kind of bizarre, but we all seem to have something unique going for us. Ryusei and I have some kind of connection to the T-Link System. Shinji and the others can pilot Evangelions. Kira's a Coordinator. There's just a lot of weird things about people my age and younger, for some reason.

I guess it still doesn't explain Sousuke or Duo or a lot of other people, though.

Kusuha... I don't really know what to say. Truthfully, your handling yourself a lot better than I did.

I just wanted to say, your doing fine.

Thank you, Kira. I'm just worried that I'm only calm because I'm in shock, and I don't want to know what happens when that wears off.

You come talk to your friends, me, Shiro, even Kaname. That's why we're here right?

I didn't come to grips with any of this alone. You don't need to either.

I'm fine, really. Type 2 needs some repairs, but I wasn't hurt at all. You're okay too, right?

Hey, you should be proud! You fought to protect people and you came out alright in the end. No matter what, you stood up for what you felt was right, and in the end there's nothing wrong with that.

I guess not, but...aren't our enemies fighting because they think it will protect people, too? At least, the DC and ZAFT say they are.

Kusuha... sometimes, certain deaths can't be avoided. We're fighting to protect innocent people. Those people you killed, they made a choice to fight. They... they accepted the fact they'd be putting their lives in danger.

It's good to feel bad, because then we don't become inhuman. But you can't worry too much. There's only so much you can do.

I know, Shinji. I can't hold that choice against them, since I made the same one, really. I wish all these wars would end, but...all I can do is help the EDF to make that happen. And I think this was a big step toward that.

*sigh*. If only wishing for peace worked.

It's okay to feel that way, Kusuha. It's what separates them from us. Just remember that we're here for you if you need us.
