Well, yes, the driving alone could of course be done, covering many more miles in the four weeks we have - four weeks and no more, I note.
However, the visiting couldn't be done, too. I took a lovely eastern road trip some years back. I left from Bossier City, and took in Tazewell, TN; Philadelphia, PA; West Virginia; Charleston, SC; and Atlanta, GA. One of my lingering regrets is not spending anything nearly like a decent amount of time with the people I stayed with along the way. This time I'm not doing that; I've budgeted time to actually stop and visit them, instead of just using their places for hotels.
So yes, by all means, take in as many miles as you want to if you only want to drive. Me, I'd rather have easier, shorter days of driving to allow for pleasant diversions when we see something interesting along the way, plus time to visit the destinations (people and places) when we get there.
Afraid not. I'd have to be blessed by the financial windfall fairy first, which isn't happening, and then I'd have to negotiate out some very tricky politics to get it to work. So, for the foreseeable future, I'm stuck exactly where I am.
Aye, I kinda figured. Well, we do plan on heading out west another time, so we'll see about things then. :-)
I could use that financial windfall fairy myself, to be honest. I think someone's got her tied up in a basement somewhere. Greedy bastard, whomever they are.
A meetup with you would be nice, whenever we can swing it. We're not going to make it out to the coast this time, just don't have the time to do everything. But you travel a lot yourself, so I'll put up our itinerary with dates once I've gotten that far, and maybe our paths will cross. If not, we'll meet up another time. :-)
