Dear techno-geeks,

If you own an iPod, and you want to use said iPod with a brand new computer which is so pretty it hurts, do not plug your iPod in. Transfer the songs on your iPod to the computer some other way first. Even if you anticipated that iTunes automatically configures your iPod to match your iTunes library and not the other way round,

I was going to email you about that very thing! If you don't mind... if you have Smithsiness of any sort you can send without detriment to yourself, that would be awesome - they're the main thing I only brought on my iPod, and while I can download 'em (so don't feel even slightly bad about saying no if you want), it'll take ages.

Aww, poor Katie. I have a love/hate relationship with my iPod. I can't use the bastard thing and my computer hates it as much as it hates the computer. But when it works it is a wonderous thing indeed!

Heh, actually, I'm not on a Mac - this was with my Toshiba notebook computer, which is lovely and runs WinXP.
