[RL with Maraihi]

Kabuto leaned against a rock outcropping, catching his breath. Though he would never admit it to Maraihi, he had pushed himself hard to get to the abandoned hideout in time. He only hoped he had concealed his movements, and motives, well enough to fool Lord Orochimaru from following him ( Read more... )

When Maraich was dropped off he wasn't sure what to expect or what to look for. The world seemed like it had a different brand of technology than his, and some parts of what he was told didn't sound very safe.

Moreover he didn't even know the name of the man he was supposed to be meeting. He was angry at himself for overlooking such an important detail.
He took a look around the area for anyone he recognized.

"You shouldn't worry to much over the next one or two months. Certainly, if you feel uncomfortable about anything go see a doctor. Your situation may be unusual, but your body is adapting to it well. What I am most worried about is how your anatomy will restructure itself to accommodate a child. Male bodies are not built for child carrying, so later in your pregnancy you might have more pain that a woman in your situation would. But you are young, and your body will recover."

Kabuto glanced at Maraich. "Truthfully, its nice to be able to help some one for the good. I do not have the opportunity to do that often. Its been no trouble helping you."

That is where Maraich started becoming more curious about who he was dealing with. He hadn't ignored the hints about not wanting to go home before; he'd made note of it in the back of his mind.

He folded his arms loosely in front of him, asking casually, "Why don't you get to do good things often?"

He finished tidying the room, thinking about his answer. He could lie, obscure the truth, follow along the path so familiar to him that he knew it by heart or...

"I am the right hand man to Orochimaru. Does it surprise you that I more often bring pain into the world than joy?"

Maraich waited, expecting further explanation, but none came.
He brushed back his hair with a simple, honest answer, "The name doesn't really mean anything to me."

"Ah. He is rather...infamous on the community. I've rarely met some one who does not judge me based on his actions. It become rather...tiring." Kabuto explained, pushing his bangs away from his face and revealing a pale white scar that covered the entire left side.

Maraich tilted his head curiously. He was sure that must have had some significance on his world, but it meant little to Maraich.

He shook his head with a small shrug, "Sorry, that doesn't mean anything to me. I've never spoken to him, but he must be a jerk if he has a reputation that bad."

"I suppose. I think its mostly that he preforms experiments on young children. Though he certainly does not go out of the way to make friends."

Maraich placed a hand on his stomach, concerned, "I suppose he can't know about this, then."

"Indeed. I can only imagine what experiments he would wish to preform on you and your child. That is why I've taken such caution in helping you."

"It would be best to do this one my world, then. Even if there isn't a monitor," he wished he'd found out about that sooner. At least he was about to go and nothing had happened.

"Correct. I suppose I could construct a monitor that would work on your world, though I am not mechanically inclined." Kabuto gestured at the door, indicating that it was time to leave, assuming Maraich didn't need any more tests.

"All right," he headed out the door, "It's safe to leave from the spot I came from, right?"

"You should be in no danger. This location is almost a full day away from the current headquarters, and I have covered my tracks well." Kabuto touched a seal by the door and with a soft 'wumph' a layer of dust fell on the room behind them, concealing all traces of their presence. "You needn't worry about his Lordship taking action against you."

That didn't fully alleviate his concerns, but he nodded quietly, "Well then, until next time."
He pulled out his small, handheld computer to leave a message to be picked up and headed back outside to where he was before.

Kabuto followed, carefully closing doors and erasing traces of their passing. He doubted the younger man would be in any danger, but as a precaution he made a point to reach the outside door before Maraich.
