Sorry the Sly roundup didn't go as well as hoped. I hope he's not mad at you. Maybe he was too loopy to even really register your presence? I know sometimes when the Lunesta is kicking in, I'm so dazed that I wouldn't notice if the room started filling up with monkeys.
Hope next time goes more successfully and that you feel better soon!
I wasn't clear in my post...he definitely saw me. It was just him and me for a brief moment, after he got away from Dr. Caldwell. I walked toward the point, and there he was, so I spoke to him, and he stopped, looked at me, listened to what I said, and then barked and crossed the ramp to the second grassy triangle.
I'm just hoping he won't remember.
Thanks for your support, hon, it means a lot to me. *hugs*
Aw crap. :( Do you think you'll try again next weekend, or give it a little longer? I'll keep my fingers crossed extra tight for that time, and for Sly not to hold anything against you. It seems more likely he'd be upset with Dr. Caldwell, actually.
As I said just now to Will...I wasn't clear in my post...he definitely saw me. It was just him and me for a brief moment, after he got away from Dr. Caldwell. I'm not sure when we're trying again, it's up to Dr. Caldwell. What a sweetie of a guy...so calm, so gentle.
Got my shower and hair done, eating an ice cream bar now, half a pain pill in and another on the way in. *hugs*
I read this last night but I was so exhausted that I didn't comment, so I'm back now. I'm sorry it didn't work out, but it sounds like you stand a good chance of success next time. And it sounds from today's post that Sly doesn't hold it against you, so that's good, too. Still, it must have been so frustrating to come so close and still have it not work out.
It was frustrating...I bet he could hear the groans of all of us when he jumped up and ran away, even though we were across the road. But for me personally, I have to admit to a tiny bit of, "You go, Sly! That's my boy!" and a whole lot of, "Oh, whew, good, he's all right," since Dr. Caldwell had warned us of possible bad effects. I've said that I'm committed to this dog and his family for whatever I have to do, and I still mean that. If we catch him, that will be great, though difficult during and after, but if we don't, he'll still see me almost every day and I'll still have backup for the days I can't make it. I just worry about him there, there are crazy people in this world. He'd be much better off with me, and I just have to convince him of that.
