I love you. :3

The summer reading theme this year in DC is reading as a passport. This post makes me think about this a lot. We've been talking about it in terms of discovering other cultures, but I think that theme is about a lot more than just that. Since it's for kids though, that surface idea is what's advertised.

I'd like to amend #1 though: Everyone is doing it!
People read newspapers, magazines, books, THE INTERNET, blogs, etc. I think it's a lot harder that people think to not read. Even video games involve reading. So even when people don't think they read, most people do.

*Lucky*. Our summer reading program isn't up yet. It probably won't be up until June, because that's when the schools stop. Unless this is a district wide thing? I'm waiting for the township's library reading program.

That's pretty cool. Passports tie in well with books, not only with historical fiction and regular fiction, but with science fiction and fantasy too. That's a pretty versatile theme.

Professor Nicosia, my favorite professor in the whole wide world (XD), was telling us about how many things have narratives and she wants to explore how video games, for example, tell a story. We were talking manga and graphic novels and how their presentation mode may differ, but how everything could be seen as literature through the right lenses.
