The thick, wooden door to Aizen's office was very handy for blocking sound, keeping much of the outer, ambient noise from reaching Aizen when he worked. As a general rule, he preferred to leave it ajar; cutting oneself off from the rest of the office was a handicap he couldn't afford. This morning, however, he'd been stuck on a phone call best kept private, and he'd shut the door a few hours earlier.

That didn't stop him from recognizing his guest before he'd entered the room. Gin had made no effort to be quiet, and just a hint of his lilting voice had reached Aizen. No one else would just walk right up and knock when Hinamori was at her post; she was ridiculously diligent about letting Aizen know who was here to see him. Besides which, even the sound of the knock on the door sounded...smarmy, somehow. Only Gin could pull that off.

Quickly, Aizen closed the programs he was working in, slipped some papers back in their folders, and sat back in his seat, hands resting lightly on the arms of the chair.

"Come in."

Gin easily slipped inside the office, closing the heavy door behind him with a quick gesture, before looking over at Aizen. The taunting, ever-present grin widened slightly, eyes opening a bit to look at his former boss. Mmhmmh, that was the image of a true company president...

"Aizen-sama~!"

He said in a cheery voice, giving the man a slight bow before he walked closer to his desk, promptly sitting down on it without the slightest bit of shame, leaning forward a little towards the dark-haired board member.

"How are things for ya, hmm? Everythin’ alright?"

Ichimaru asked, obviously having something on his mind but enjoying dawdling a little before he came to the point. Life was a game and Gin loved to play dirty. Besides, who was in a hurry? Not him.

"Didja see what a pretty blouse yer secretary has today? Saa, I envy ya, Aizen-sama. Izuru is hardly as much eye candy as she~"

Gin’s choice of seating arrangements was answered with the barest flick of an eyebrow. Aizen was quite sure that if he were to say the word, Gin would be off his desk in an instant, with all kinds of fuss and insincere apology. Such a display of authority for its own sake was unnecessary, however; as long as they both knew where they stood, Aizen couldn’t care less where Gin sat.

“Everything’s going quite well. You seem to be in good spirits.”

He met Gin’s gaze levelly, as though Aizen was the one looking down from above; his own smile hinted at indulgence. He had no sympathy for those who were consistently offended by Gin’s mannerisms. The traits were died-in-the-wool; one would think people would learn to pick their fights by now. And at the end of the day, Gin actually did his job very well.

“Yes, I saw that. She takes great care in her appearance.”

Hinamori took great care in everything, when it came down to it. He found her devotion much more attractive than any of her physical attributes. She’d be hard-pressed to ( ... )

Of course, if Gin knew that Aizen didn’t approve of his choice of seating, he wouldn’t even have sat down on the desk in the first place. As it was, he had the deepest respect for Aizen-sama and he still sat on his desk. Because that was the kind of person he was. He didn’t need to pretend in front of Aizen.

"Oh, I’m in very good spirits, mmhmm. I found me a new toy and I’m ruinin’ his life. Quite interestin’, really. I bet he won’t last a month."

Gin said casually, like they were discussing weather. He was effectively going to ruin Ishida Uryuu’s career and most likely his life as well, making it impossible for him to be hired at any other company ever again.

"As fer my business, I was thinkin’ lunch? Ya need ta step outta the office, Aizen-sama~"

He then added merrily. Of course, Gin had a secondary agenda with that proposition too; he was quite interested in what Aizen was planning - and he didn’t want this little game of his to be ruining said plans.

Aizen's expression shifted to one of cool amusement. It had been a while since Gin had someone to play with. (Not counting his current secretary, of course, but apparently even poor Izuru was not enough to keep Gin wholly entertained ( ... )
