Characters: Kyouraku Shunsui, Ise Nanao Location: Their office area Date: Friday, July 11th, before lunch Rating: G Summary: Would a sexual harassment lawsuit be a good gift?
Shunsui leaned back and wondered what the weekend would bring with his birthday and all. He never really liked to make it a showy occasion. Getting a year closer to forty didn't seem like a thing to celebrate. He used to be able to pass his behavior off as youthful frivolity but with each turning of his age it seemed to be more lecherous than not...
He had lunch plans that involved eating the greasiest steak sub and fries downtown had to offer in Ukitake's office then taking a nap on his couch. But first it was down to the coffee shop to collect Kuukaku's gift. He unbuttoned his cuff and rolled up his sleeves then shoved his wallet in his back pocket. Then he remembered something.
"Nanao-chan, do you mind rescheduling my meeting with Kariya next week then send flowers to his office. My niece has a soccer game and I promised to see all her games. Can you believe it's playoffs already for little league?" He beamed at Nanao, apparently proud of his niece's accomplishments.
Her nails drummed against the desk surface, her foot wiggling beneath the desk. Both nervous characeristics, though for pete's sake, she was a grown woman. Her hand she stilled be picking up a pen, though she merely doodled for a second. She should just get this over with.
Nanao gave a start hearing her boss's voice suddenly by her. For a moment there was a blank expression on her face. Then what he said actually sank in. A curt nod was given, jotting down a not for her to fix later. "Of course, Sir. I'll do that right after lunch. Ah..."
Bending down, Nanao removed retrieved a meticulously wrapped gift that had been hiding under her desk. Several ideas, such as a law book, or a framed copy of company policy had gone through her head. In the head, a new agenda for all his friends, and a gift certificate to The Cheese Cake Factory, since he had that uncanny liking for the stuff.
"Nanao-chan! Now when I say you shouldn't have I really mean you shouldn't have. Although I must admit I'm quite...happy that you got me a present." Shunsui grinned. Though he really didn't say that to her he still was truthful about his emotions. He wanted to give her a little squeeze for it and made a move toward her with his arms open, ready for the embrace no matter how unprofessional it really would be but Shunsui didn't care, after all, professionalism wasn't his forte.
He often said a lot of things, things which Nanao tended to ignore the moment they came out of his mouth. An acquired talent, she liked to think. Of course she pretended to focus elsewhere as he spoke, though when he moved, she shot him a glance.
"A simple thanks will do, Sir," she replied, her voice slightly testy though a flush sprang to her cheeks. Her hand searched around for something, though the only thing truly close enough on her desk was her stapler, and using such a thing against her boss seemed foolish.
"Thank you, Nanao-chan. Now I'm off for that lunch date, would you like to join me? It's just Jyuushirou and me but I'm sure a couple of old guys like us yammering on about the good ol' days wouldn't interest you. However, I do insist that you make an appearance at my flat tonight. I've got a lot of friends who don't really believe you exist." He gave her a little wink and nudge with his elbow.
