In a way, Nanao was always surprised that Shunsui came into work on his birthday every year. Then again, if she actually thought about it, she wasn't. It was the one day where she actually felt just a bit bad about nagging him to do his work.
She shouldn't though. Work was for work.
Buying gifts, especially for her boss, was not Nanao's forte. An awkward situation, though one that luckily only came around once a year, besides Christmas. Still, it came down to timing. Give him his present, then flee the area as quick as possible. Nanao embarrassed? No, of course not... Work was for working. At least that was the excuse she told herself.
Almost lunch time, and since he seemed to have plans for said lunch break, it seemed like the perfect time to give him his gift, and retreat.
