I have accepted it's part of this world, like the tragedies caused by a tempest or an earthquake are in our world. The curses are part of the nature in the City that lack hurricanes or tsunamis and where nobody starves or dies by the cold weather.
Until we figure out how to manage a plan to face or prevent the curses, we can do little else but to endure for our sanity's sake.
But that's how it is here. Each world has their own rules and their good and bad things. On one hand, almost nobody dies, there is little poverty and the crime rate is slow. No big conflicts, famine, frostbite cases and other pests that affect other worlds.
On the other, we have the curses. That can be cruel, dumb or insightful.

I've actually been meaning to get a job too, but... I'm not sure how familiar with magic I really am. I can only use water spells.
