Absent Friends challenge

Yes, I finally stopped calling these 'drabbles'.

This is even more jabbery than Alkior's, which I hope he uses as ammunition against the rest (eh, who am I kidding?). Not even remotely self-contained, either - definitely can't call it a short story. It's really more a write-up of a conversation that takes place in early Summoning, and I might even ( Read more... )

drabbles, isaille, jeren, writing, nuan, lorannon, simbelyne

Ah, that was precious. Was going to go after a little more Sea-Fever over lunch, then spotted this...then my mom called, so time restriction sealed my fate. ;)

"Jeren, Isaille observed with some amusement, was sitting like a maiden with his hands in his lap"
*laughs and hugs him* Been too long since I enjoyed this lot.

"I am a man of peace, Isaille," Lorannon protested scurrilously"
My internal editor HAD to make it known that this is one of the more...peculiar...dialogue tags I've, erm, 'savored,' in a while. ;)

And the closing line is just too perfect. *grins* Thanks for posting!

*falls over cackling* Argh, I changed the quote but not the tag! That is just precious XD (Or Zen! Yeah, that's what it was - Zen!)

Isaille is such a hypocrite, bless her little heart, but hey - Captain's prerogative. *grins* Thanks for reading, me sweet!

Nuan and Jeren, predicably, started cackling. <- *cackles along* They are not the only ones. And yes, you should hurry up with that rewriting of Seeking. I'm very much tempted to leave several Tides chapters away from you (like the last five or so) until you're a fair way into the rewriting process.

Granted, I don't know most of these characters enough for a full effect, but the fact that I love this all the same should say something, shouldn't it? ^-~ It was wonderful. Very enjoyable and definitive. Well, in the sense that you've got all the characters' personalities across in such a little time frame to ignorant little me, anyway. ^-^

It was great fun, if a little sad near the end. ^-^

No, you can't do that! That would be mean! What if I promise to give you the finished first chapter by ... um ... the end of August? (I'm a realist ;D)

Isaille is in an uncommon mood, Nuan and Lorannon are nothing short of annoying, Jeren is laconic and Simbelyne is prim.

... that's all you'll probably ever need to know about this lot anyway, me dear XD Thanks for reading, precious! Now go and edit for me *glass house topples with a crash*

That works wonderfully for me. ^-^ And the rest? :P

*cackles* But need-to-know basis is never fun!

I love Lorannon. He's such a git sometimes XDDD

I just love the image of them fighting over a glass of wine in this huge, grandiose place >3

"Swap you your whiskey for your wine, Lorannon." <-- think he means my wine.

Ah~ I've missed this bunch X3

Ah, yes, sometimes frequently. O;D

Poor Immovan. He's also frequently a bastard, yes, but no-one deserves this in their lovely house. XD I'm sure they never wipe their feet, either.

Um, oops. I think he means that too. Silly Nuan. *coughs*

Thankee me precious! ^o^

*sigh* In the same way Atlantis always wins over the featherheaded Saisorhi, I just can't swap these for Fae in my affections. I knew them first, and I love them best, even if you do tempt me to forget, thanks to long, loooong absences ;)

Thoroughly enjoyed this one - how could I not? Lorannon, being sarcy *huggles him* He and Nuan make a great double act, they really do.

"I hear she dips all her visitors in gold. They don't match the furnishings otherwise."
"Ha, ha, Lorannon." Nuan made a few faces at himself, then glanced up. "That was a joke, wasn't it?" -- Love it.

Backtrack, backtrack," warned Nuan on the sidelines, sliding his glass out of perceived harm's way. -- *snickers*

Nice to know Nuan has all his priorities in the right place ^_^

Yes, true, she gave out plenty of her own oblique little how-are-you chats, but she hated receiving them. -- Uh oh... Combined with her sarcasm, I fear I might be more similar to Isaille at times than I thought. Eep! Still, yep, definitely with her on that one. It's all very well to ( ... )

It's a mysterious, mysterious thing. I can't even count the number of times I've been sitting here, typing away, thinking things like "Ah, it's so nice to have villains with some actual brains and motives," or "Look, this plot is actually going to go somewhere logical! Without any running!"

... and then all this lot have to do is say a word and I go running right back. ;P

I've always been fascinated by the way I can glance at, say, Shaiel/Rhyl or Tiger/Nimbus and know instantly - however much I might like the interloper as well - which one came first. They just seem more real, and I heart them more. (The best example there would have been He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Cuddled, yes, but my fondness for the Shaylix has increased to slightly cuddly fondness throughout Sea-Fever - don't tell either of them ( ... )

*chuckles* That's funny, because I'm so not the same with my lot. My first bunch of characters can shout, scream, whistling, sing, whatever, but I won't go back. I'm like a magpie - must stick with the shiiny new characters. Poor neglected ones, definitely waving and drowning, and I still don't pay attention.

Can't let them go though.

(I won't.)

I also think there's a lot of Lorannonical reasons for me loving this bunch more than the fae. Though *twitch* there's possibly a few grey eyed reasons. I'd love to see Arathalion go up against Schiri, though it'd probably be an overload on glares and caustic comments. But amusing.

Er... damn. Still, there are worse people I could vaguely remind you of... isn't there?

Don't! *clings*

I'd probably be the same with shiiiny new characters if my old ones weren't such a bunch of thugs, I guess. I probably never see what they do with tyre-irons while I'm asleep.

*dies* Oh, don't, that would be tragedy. I could swear that I hear little snorts of contempt every time I start typing about shiny ironwings, and if he actually did it in front of a moon fae I don't know what would happen.

Wait, I do, he'd die XD

I doubt it.

Of course you do, poppet; that's one of the many reasons it's true.

Er... damn. Still, there are worse people I could vaguely remind you of... isn't there?

... Nuan? O;)

It was really fun to write it. I've been rotten to these poor, suffering twits, really. Just because they aren't quite as shiny as New People. *eyes Seeking with trepidation* :P

Anyway, I'm glad you liked this, petal! Thanks for reading. *hugs* I really, really, really must get my act together, finish 'Seeking', and move on properly to 'Summoning'. Er. Soonish.

Help! We're locked in the cupboard, Pantha! Call the authorities!
