Absent Friends challenge

Yes, I finally stopped calling these 'drabbles'.

This is even more jabbery than Alkior's, which I hope he uses as ammunition against the rest (eh, who am I kidding?). Not even remotely self-contained, either - definitely can't call it a short story. It's really more a write-up of a conversation that takes place in early Summoning, and I might even ( Read more... )

It's a mysterious, mysterious thing. I can't even count the number of times I've been sitting here, typing away, thinking things like "Ah, it's so nice to have villains with some actual brains and motives," or "Look, this plot is actually going to go somewhere logical! Without any running!"

... and then all this lot have to do is say a word and I go running right back. ;P

I've always been fascinated by the way I can glance at, say, Shaiel/Rhyl or Tiger/Nimbus and know instantly - however much I might like the interloper as well - which one came first. They just seem more real, and I heart them more. (The best example there would have been He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Cuddled, yes, but my fondness for the Shaylix has increased to slightly cuddly fondness throughout Sea-Fever - don't tell either of them)

I can see it's going to give the fae complexes in later writing life - they'll be sitting there angsting and going, "But I make sense! I'm smarter! I'm stronger! I have legitimate suffering and experience! What do they have that I can't give you?!"

And I'll be like, "Oh, my darlings, you don't understand!! They were the first!"

And they'll be like, "Oh, can't you see they're no good for you?! I'm the one, can't you see?!"

*hems*

Thank you very much for reading, me sweet. I suppose this would be a bad time to mention that your remarks often vaguely remind me of Isaille ;)

*chuckles* That's funny, because I'm so not the same with my lot. My first bunch of characters can shout, scream, whistling, sing, whatever, but I won't go back. I'm like a magpie - must stick with the shiiny new characters. Poor neglected ones, definitely waving and drowning, and I still don't pay attention.

Can't let them go though.

(I won't.)

I also think there's a lot of Lorannonical reasons for me loving this bunch more than the fae. Though *twitch* there's possibly a few grey eyed reasons. I'd love to see Arathalion go up against Schiri, though it'd probably be an overload on glares and caustic comments. But amusing.

Er... damn. Still, there are worse people I could vaguely remind you of... isn't there?

Don't! *clings*

I'd probably be the same with shiiiny new characters if my old ones weren't such a bunch of thugs, I guess. I probably never see what they do with tyre-irons while I'm asleep.

*dies* Oh, don't, that would be tragedy. I could swear that I hear little snorts of contempt every time I start typing about shiny ironwings, and if he actually did it in front of a moon fae I don't know what would happen.

Wait, I do, he'd die XD

I doubt it.

Of course you do, poppet; that's one of the many reasons it's true.

Er... damn. Still, there are worse people I could vaguely remind you of... isn't there?

... Nuan? O;)

*chuckles* Poor ol' Schizzers, it's just no fun when the new crowd come along and have better resources than you. But always remember, Schiri, contempt works best from afar. It's much more fun to deride these people to everyone but them. After all, you risk less pain that way.

Oh =P

If I ever start to sound like Simbelyne, I think you have my permission to start taking aim.
