What Killed Saturday Morning Cartoons? -- He really scored points on that matter because today isn't yesterday; kids aren't kids anymore but cut more like teenagers even at grade three; and for Chrissake's I miss the reason to wake up early, watching old-school Transformers and the old American sched lineup. xD ( Read more... )

That was an interesting list of reasons I hadn't thought about before. Everyone always says that once you get to a certain age you tend to think all people younger than you are horrible and that YOU were never as bad as they are. But I have talked to teachers and people who have seen generation after generation of kids go by, aware of their temperments and most people I know agree that things have changed. Kids nowadays are assholes in the making - they ARE growing up too fast. Compared to the kids now, when I was their age I was downright clueless and naive about the things they know. Its terrible, but their own parents were brought up more jaded that those parents parents, and this jadedness only gets passed down to the kids. I think it is to the point we overestimate what kids can handle before they become so jaded that they fall prey to the very things we were making them jaded about in hopes the knowledge would protect them from it ( ... )

This generation gets more bombarded by media (and consume a bigger truckload of Internet bandwidth) than any other time in history, and it's more pronounced among kids today. Already my nephew, sad to say, even at the age of 3 is already a Cartoon Network fanatic ( ... )
