This is priceless!!!All of Jack's commentary is spot on! What an absolutely boring start to a boring marriage and life in general. Only with Jack did Ennis come alive. As for 'letting her down gently', Jack would have thought Ennis had lost his mind if he tried that on Jack!

That really does sound depressing. I think what depresses me more is the thought of Jack reading it and picturing Ennis with Alma. I just want to hug them both and then lock them in a room together!
