most likely very true, and I echo what lukebacca says. It's also interesting to think that depression is a clinical condition where you deceive yourself that things are worse than they really are.
at the moment in therapy I'm struggling to hang onto the new (for me) concept of not listening to the bad stuff my brain tells me when I'm tired or down - to recognise the messages as just thoughts. That's still just increasing self-awareness though. I am learning to dismiss the dark messages a bit, and replace them with good stuff. CBT type therapy.
it makes me laugh that whenever I picture the staff at Colgate University , they're all wearing perfect winning smiles of self-deception.
