It wasn't often that people sought Italy out to talk to him. So it made him feel really happy when Ash requested his presence. He packed up a bowl of extra scottiglia that he'd been saving, said goodbye to Germany, and headed out to the Casualty Communal. The last time he'd been out alone, it hadn't been safe because of Adachi. But now that Adachi was gone, Italy felt like he could relax.

Well. He almost always felt pretty relaxed, no matter what the situation.

But Italy made it safely to the other building, and his friend's apartment. "Ash!" he called, knocking on the door. "It's Italy~!"

Ash looked up from the couch (his bed since Dawn had arrived) when he heard the knock. A grin spreading across his face, "Italy! Come in!" He rushed towards the door, opening it and looking up at his friend.

His stomach gave a short grumble when he caught sight of the bowl in the country's hand, "Ah...h-heh, I'm glad you're here."

Italy smiled brightly when he heard the boy's stomach grumble. Ash didn't have to worry, because Italy would take good care of him! "I will always come to see you," he said. And he meant it. Unless he was sleeping, or Germany said he couldn't. "Let me heat this up here, alright?"

"Sure." He stepped aside to let Italy in before closing the door behind them. He looked thoughtfully at the pot, "Is that the stuff you were making the other night?" He still didn't know what it was exactly.

The country was quiet, just listening for a moment. He finally turned around to face Ash, resting his hip against the counter and folding his arms across his chest. "Hmmm... Were you nervous?"

Nervous...well, he'd been nervous several times before and the feelings were exactly the same. But if he thought on it, there wasn't anything around for him to be nervous about.

"It felt like that yeah but, there wasn't anything to be nervous about."

Italy nodded and leaned forward a little. He looked pretty serious for a moment, before a huge grin spread across his face. "Do you remember when you had this feeling, Ash?" He didn't look like he was teasing. He honestly wanted to know and help the other boy. "Were you looking at something? ...Someone?"

He paused in thought for a few moments, well it hadn't been there when he found the buffet or anything before then. The first weird feeling had been...

"Ah! Yeah- Laura, she found me and I couldn't help looking at her." He sounded so naive, but this sort of thing had never entered his mind. Not like this, not so...personally.

Really? How old was Ash now? "Weren't there any cute girls back in your world?" Italy could not imagine never looking at girls. Girls were so gentle! And soft! And lovely!

"Well if my friend Brock has anything to say then yeah, there's plenty." He just never found any interesting? It wasn't like he had done it on purpose, traveling for five full years with only his goals and adventures in mind. Girls were...well, never a priority.

The stew was just about warmed up now, and Italy was adding a few things to it. He hummed lightly as he thought about Ash and how he'd been when he first arrived. He'd been looking for his friend, the yellow creature. Perhaps Ash must have been so focused on those monster things to even pay attention to the fairer sex. Well, it was a good thing he was brought to Death City! It was always nice to have a change of scenery.

Or Perhaps Italy was liking this vacation too much.

"It's not bad to like girls," he said after a long pause. "And it's okay to have a crush on Laura."

Now he's blushing a bit harder then before. It's one thing to have the idea hinted at, but to hear it so direct. "I..." He rubbed at his cheek again before turning in the chair to look at Italy.

"So what do I do now?"

Change of scenery was nice, but...he had no idea what to do with all this scenery...

Of course, Ash pulling away didn't deter Italy any. He remained where he was without even thinking about their proximity. "This is your first crush, right?" he asked, tilting his head slightly. "Then you should probably take it slow. Maybe buy her a little present!"

"A...present?" Well..he did have, a lot of money from the party for helping out and he still had no idea what to do with it. "It is but, I don't know what to get her."

"Something small," Italy replied, leaning back in his chair again. "You don't want to act too desperate, si?"

"I don't?" well...he didn't want to look ridiculous like Brock tended to when after a girl. Of course he wasn't going to be tripping over himself to spout a bunch of mushy stuff either.

"So..uhm. Flowers? Or is that too much..."

He's blushing almost as red as his missing hat, "I...I don't think i want anyone to know. Not yet." Because he didn't know what he was doing, and somehow Laura finding out from someone else just wasn't setting well with him.

Italy was quiet for a moment, thinking about what Ash said. Ah, he understood, he supposed. It was probably better for Ash and Laura to become closer before other people found out. "I promise!"

Ash's shy smile turned into a full blown smile and he gave a short nod, "Thanks, Italy." Really, Ash isn't very good in dealing with people but he's glad he came to someone like Italy. The man knew what he was talking about.
