The country was quiet, just listening for a moment. He finally turned around to face Ash, resting his hip against the counter and folding his arms across his chest. "Hmmm... Were you nervous?"

Nervous...well, he'd been nervous several times before and the feelings were exactly the same. But if he thought on it, there wasn't anything around for him to be nervous about.

"It felt like that yeah but, there wasn't anything to be nervous about."

Italy nodded and leaned forward a little. He looked pretty serious for a moment, before a huge grin spread across his face. "Do you remember when you had this feeling, Ash?" He didn't look like he was teasing. He honestly wanted to know and help the other boy. "Were you looking at something? ...Someone?"

He paused in thought for a few moments, well it hadn't been there when he found the buffet or anything before then. The first weird feeling had been...

"Ah! Yeah- Laura, she found me and I couldn't help looking at her." He sounded so naive, but this sort of thing had never entered his mind. Not like this, not so...personally.

"What did she look like?" Italy continued pushing on, slowly starting to understand just exactly what Ash's problem was. "She was pretty, si?"

"Well, yeah. Everyone looked nice at the party." Sadly Ash was still way off from thinking that a pretty girl had anything to do with his confusion. "She did look really nice." He sighed and leaned back in his seat.

"But she didn't do anything to me."

Italy's expression softened. "But. You still felt that weird feeling just by looking at her."

"A-a...little yeah." A slight blush was coming onto his cheeks now, and he rubbed at them. "What's it got to do with anything?"

So, it really was that. Italy calmly watched Ash's face before turning away to stir at the pot. In matters like these, he was an expert. It was a good thing he and Ash were friends. He felt so happy! "You've never had a crush before, Ash?"
