I apologize for my slowness. I had computer issues last night. spandexisyouth December 29 2011, 04:38:45 UTC
Gai listened to Hisahide, taking the tea and sipping. That explained a good deal, and it also explained exactly why Gai couldn't let this be. This was another chance. Hisahide deserved better then to lose it ( ... )

Don't worry about it. HAHA, I caught a cold so I'm moving at the speed of smell. palaverous December 29 2011, 15:26:25 UTC
Hisahide sipped his tea just as calmly as Gai had when he listened to his words. He was starting to feel just a little more nostalgic, but he was fairly certain that he was not as naive as this man -- nor was he as naive as Yukimura. His shoulders gave a small shrug; he could only look back at those years as a passive observer, but feel nothing as to what those memories held ( ... )

Aw, I'm sorry. spandexisyouth December 30 2011, 00:38:15 UTC
Gai shook his head. "They are not delusions, and I have lived this way for thirty-one years. Optimism and hope has served me very well! And any single one person can change the course of things, whether it is the lives of their friends, their loved ones, or the entire world. Every person you come into contact with is touched by your life. If you limit it, then you cheat you and them both."

He followed Hisahide's gaze to the skull. That couldn't possibly be Hisahide's, could it? The man had mentioned dying twice, though. "Life is of course difficult. But anything that is worth anything takes work and struggle. Everyone dies but there is no reason to waste what time has been given us. And given to you thrice! Why would you squander what many others would wish for? You are alive, Hisahide! Live! Do not waste what you can bring to others and this world, and what they can bring to you? Of course everything ens, but that is why things matter so much while we are alive."

"This skull," Hisahide began as he seemingly was changing subjects and completely disregarding what it was that Gai had to say, "is that of Nobunaga Oda. I doubt that means much in this world where timelines are different, but he was one who set forth to burn an entire country to ash. He was a murderer and those that killed him were also that ( ... )

Gai considered the skull for a time. Hisahide did have a point, but it wasn't quite the point Gai was arguing. He leaned forward.

"What is the point of survival for the sake of survival? A life without connections or joy... that is like always drinking water instead of tea! You could drink water, and water is very good for you, and you need to drink water sometimes! But if you add leaves you get tea, and that is tasty and brings more enjoyment than water. Or beans create coffee, or fermenting rice in water creates sake!"

Gai smiles. "The length of one's life does not matter if it is empty of joy and moments to be treasured. I take no offense. But in a way, you are already dead, right now. You are not trying and you are not striving. Things that are fleeting should be experienced instead of allowed to just pass, much like a single sunflower in an entire field should be seen and enjoyed!" He shakes his head. "Why not try to savor what you have instead of waiting for it to be over? What is there to lose except boredom and complacency?"
